Direitos humanos e Islã.

When we speak about Muslim culture and specifically Muslim religion and law, there are two ways to analyze it. The first considers the reality of Muslim countries and their politics, and the second looks at Islamic doctrine. In other words, it examines its original doctrine, in spite of the way in which this doctrine has been used by political forces to reach their objectives. This article presents a short overview of the second perspective and analyzes how Islamic doctrine can be related to the idea of human rights. There are many difficulties in reconciling Muslim doctrine with human rights. These are a result of Western culture, which has a very different way of understanding human beings. Therefore, concepts such as human dignity can not be understood in the Muslim world as in they are in the Western world. In the Islamic view, there is no essential distinction between the sacred and the secular. Moreover, man�s duty to serve his Maker is present in every circumstance of life. Religion is a very important element in this culture, and human rights, if we want to apply and make them effective, have to be interpreted from the perspective of Islam.Quando falamos sobre a cultura muçulmana, ou, especificamente, sobre a religião e o direito muçulmano, há duas formas de analisá-la(os). A primeira considera a realidade dos países muçulmanos e sua política e a segunda toma como base a doutrina do Islã, ou, em outras palavras, a doutrina original do Islã, a despeito da forma como ela tem sido usada pelas forças políticas para atingir seus objetivos. Neste artigo, fazemos um pequeno esboço da segunda perspectiva e analisamos, com base nele, como a cultura islâmica pode ser relacionada à idéia de direitos humanos. Há muita dificuldade na conciliação entre a tradição islâmica e os direitos humanos, os quais resultam da cultura ocidental, cuja forma de entender o ser humano é bastante diversa da muçulmana. Assim, muitas idéias, como a de dignidade humana, não podem ser entendidas no mundo muçulmano como no ocidental. Na visão islâmica, não há distinção essencial entre o sagrado e o secular; além disso, o dever humano de servir seu criador está presente em todas as circunstâncias da vida. A religião é um elemento muito importante nessa cultura, e os direitos humanos � se pretendemos aplicá-los e efetivá-los � devem ser interpretados sob a perspectiva do Islã
