Santa Librada, en las vísperas del Bicentenario

This article analyzes how there has been the historical process of representation of the image of Santa Librada and his relationship with the Independence, it explains why this image has been forgotten, even rejected, and why it has been, in certain moments in time, recovered. Santa Librada emphasizes the feminine element in the symbolic of the Independence, but also it establishes a tie with Spanish religious and political traditions.Este artículo analiza cómo ha sido el proceso histórico de representación de la imagen de Santa Librada y su relación con la Independencia; explica por qué esa imagen ha sido olvidada, incluso despreciada, y por qué ha sido en ciertos momentos recuperada. Santa Librada pone de relieve el elemento femenino en la simbólica de la Independencia, pero también establece vínculo con tradiciones religiosos y políticas españolas
