CARACTERIZACIÓN DEL INFARTO AGUDO DE MIOCARDIO EN VENEZUELA DURANTE EL AÑO 2008

A cross-sectional, descriptive and observa-tional study was carried out in order to characterize the acute myocardial infarction in the Intensive Care Units of the first Integral Diagnosis Centers inaugurated by the Barrio Adentro Mission in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, since the implementation of the first Integral Medical Centers in 2008. A total of 240 patients with an acute myocardial infarction diagnosis were assisted. There was a predominance of the male patients and the white color of the skin. The stay of the patients at the Intensive Care Unit was of more than 7 days; and among the risk factors, the most prevalent one was dyslipidemia. Concerning the topography of the infarction, the most common was the anterior wall infarction. The general survival was much higher in the cases that received the thrombolytic therapy and the normal procedures of vital support.Se realizó un estudio observacional, descrip-tivo y transversal, para caracterizar el infarto agudo de miocardio en las Unidades de Terapia Intensiva de los primeros Centros de Diagnóstico Integral inaugurados por la Misión Barrio Adentro, en la República Bolivariana de Venezuela desde la inauguración de los primeros Centros Médicos Integrales de Venezuela efectuada en el año 2008. Se atendieron un total de 240 pacientes con el diagnóstico de infarto agudo de miocardio. Hubo un predominio del sexo masculino y el color de la piel blanca. La estadía de los pacientes en terapia intensiva fue de más de siete días, y dentro de los factores de riesgo, el que más prevalencia tuvo fue la dislipidemia. En la topografía del infarto, el más frecuente fue el infarto de cara anterior. La supervivencia general fue muy superior para aquellos casos beneficiados con la terapia trombolítica y con las medidas habituales de apoyo vital
