Executive function (EF) is a complex cognitive activity, which has focused from different models, allowing diverse theoretical objects that could be representing assorted mental skills in each case. In this paper EF models are panoramically presented. Relationships between EF and frontal lobes circuitries are commented. Developmental hierarchical hypothesis of executive function is exposed, which is base upon problem solving (PS) model and on the acquisition of diverse awareness and consciousness levels.
