Neuropsicología de Lóbulos Frontales, Funciones Ejecutivas y Conducta Humana

The article objective is to bring an integrative perspective on frontal lobe neuropsychology, the basics concepts in frontal lobes functional organization and the behavioural and cognitive functions supported by these brain areas. The frontal lobes are the most recent developed brain areas in the human specie; they present the most complex and diverse functional organization of the human brain. They are functional divided in three large areas: orbital, medial and dorsolateral, a basic review of the neuropsychologycal functions suported by each one of these areas is presented in this article. This review pretends to provide a basic understanding of frontal lobe neuropsychology and its heterogeneous influence in human behaviour.El objetivo de este artículo es proporcionar una visión integrativa de la neuropsicología de los lóbulos frontales, su organización funcional básica y las funciones cognitivas y conductuales que soporta, entre ellas las funciones ejecutivas. Los lóbulos frontales son las estructuras cerebrales de más reciente evolución en la especie humana, presentan la organización funcional más compleja y diversa del cerebro humano. Se dividen funcionalmente en tres grandes áreas: orbital, medial y dorsolateral, en éste artículo se presenta un revisión básica de las funciones neuropsicológicas soportadas por cada una de estas áreas. Esta revisión pretende aportar al lector una comprensión básica de la neuropsicología de los lóbulos frontales y de su aportación heterogénea a la conducta humana
