La noción de empresario: análisis de un grupo de empresarios Pyme universitarios, Palmira, 2011

This article discusses the evolution of the concept of entrepreneur. The origin of the term entrepreneur dates back to the eighteenth century when Cantillon, a Frenchman, first coined it in association with the idea of entrepreneurship. It reviews the contributions by Benjamin Franklin, Werner Sombart with The bourgeois, and Max Weber with �Protestant ethics and the spirit of capitalism�. It also discusses the notion of entrepreneur that developed in the first two decades of the twentieth century together with what was called scientific administration. A study was conducted with a group of twenty entrepreneurs who are attending open and correspondence programs at the National University. The study involved a discussion of the following questions: �What is an entrepreneur?, What are the characteristics of an entrepreneur?, What prompted you to become an entrepreneur? What difficulties have you had as an entrepreneur?, and are you optimistic or pessimistic about the current situation in our country?.� The author presents the results of the study and raises a discussion in this regard.En este artículo se discute el desarrollo del concepto de empresario. Se toman los orígenes del término acuñado en el siglo XVIII por el francés Cantillon que lo asoció a la idea de emprendimiento. Se estudian los aportes de Benjamín Franklin, Werner Sombart y su obra El burgués: Contribución a la historia espiritual del hombre económico moderno, Max Weber y su libro La ética protestante y el espíritu del capitalismo, así como la noción de empresario desarrollada en los primeros veinte años del siglo XX durante la era denominada �administración científica�. Se procede luego a realizar un estudio con un grupo de veinte empresarios vinculados académicamente a la Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia con los cuales se discutieron los siguientes tópicos: ¿qué es un empresario?, ¿cuáles son las características de un empresario?, ¿qué lo motivó a ser empresario?, ¿qué dificultades ha tenido como empresario? Igualmente analizar si son optimistas o pesimistas en relación con la situación actual del país. Finalmente, se presentan los resultados y se plantea una discusión al respecto
