The analysis of queísmo is increasing. Linguistic economy and influence of other languages are considered its main causes. The position of the Real Academia de la Lengua on queísmo is varied, but in no case is it considered a vulgarism. The use or omission of a preposition between the verb and the 'que' particle is recommended in certain forms and constructions, although its importance is emphasized more in some dictionaries that others. In some cases, dictionaries reduce queísmo to spoken language, or to formal registers. It has been shown that, as Nueva gramática indicates, the verb 'alegrarse' is the verb with most 'queísta' uses, followed by the verb 'fijarse'.
