In learning French as a foreign language, in the primary school, pupils face great problems in the skill reading. These difficulties are due to the absence of certain phonemes in their mother tongue Arabic. Moreover, they are unable to recognize and identify them correctly. This contribution reports on the progress of a research on these issues.Lors de l'apprentissage du français dans le cycle primaire, les élèves rencontrent d'énormes difficultés en lecture à haute voix dues à l'inexistence de certains phonèmes dans la langue source « l'arabe ». S'ajoute à cela l'incapacité à les reconnaitre, à les identifier d'une manière correcte et convenable. Cette contribution fait état de l'avancement d'une recherche sur ces questions
