El migrante y los avatares de habitar el 'entre' en Luna Latina en Manhattan de Jaime Manrique

The aim of this article is to analyzed Luna Latina en Manhattan, by Jaime Manrique. The novel is structured around the duality in which the principal protagonist lives, that is, between two worlds, two cultures and two languages, corresponding to both social and geographical modals of the protagonist: Colombia and The United States. The topic of the individual identity is investigated as a product of the movement and of the constant exchange of the protagonist with his environment. For this study, two indispensable concepts are used: the cultural heterogeneity and the migrant, postulated by, Antonio Cornejo Polar. Although Cornejo Polar�s definitions of heterogeneity and migration allude to the Andean world and Latin-American cultures, they perfectly apply to the subjects and to the cultural phenomena that are the product of the modern migrations from the third to the first world. One of the premises that move the analysis is to think the literary text as Alejo Carpentier proposes it, that is: an instrument of investigation, a way of knowledge of men and epochs which exceeds, in many cases, the intentions of the author.en este trabajo analizamos Luna Latina en Manhattan del escritor colombiano Jaime Manrique. La novela está estructurada a partir de la dualidad en la que vive el personaje principal, que habita entre dos mundos, dos culturas y dos idiomas, equivalentes a los dos referentes sociales y geográficos del protagonista �Colombia y Estados Unidos� por lo cual hemos optado por estudiar el tema de la identidad individual, entendida como el producto del intercambio constante del personaje con su entorno. Para este objeto, nos remitimos a los conceptos de heterogeneidad cultural y de migrante, en el sentido que los define el teórico de la cultura Antonio Cornejo Polar. Aclaramos, sin embargo, que si bien Polar habla de heterogeneidad y de migrante en el contexto de las sociedades andinas y de las culturas latinoamericanas, estos son aplicables a los sujetos y a los fenómenos culturales resultantes de las migraciones modernas del tercer al primer mundo. Uno de los principios que mueve este análisis es pensar el texto literario como Alejo Carpentier lo propone: como un instrumento de indagación, un modo de conocimiento de hombres y de épocas, es decir, un modo de conocimiento que rebasa, en muchos casos, las intenciones del autor
