In the context of social mobilization for public education that once again denounces the shameful social and educational inequality in Chile, I do a bibliographic review of the literature which talk about the inequities and the need for a social justice perspective for the educational system. Taking an international perspective by comparing the Chilean and American context, I offer a description of the phenomenon of educational inequity in both contexts and thus founded on a social justice perspective in teacher education as a fundamental pillar for real change in the classrooms. In that vein, I discuss the need, the meaning and components that have teacher education for social justice, and so doing, I describe documented cases as examples ...
