Estratégias de desenvolvimento sustentável estudo de caso: grupo itaú-unibanco

The aim of this study is to identify the level of incorporation of sustainable management in Itaú- Unibanco, and its main challenges. The project of sustainable development has often been understood as that condition in which the organization is financially balanced without major risks and future prospects. This project should be listed as an important gap in organizations, as source of innovation and competitive advantage, and therefore an action plan to be adopted globally, nationally and locally by organizations that include the United Nations system, governments and civil society in all areas where human activity impacts the environment. Constitutes the most comprehensive attempt ever imagined setting a new standard of development for the twenty-first century, whose foundation is the synergy of environmental, social and economic. In a recent study, Kurzweil (2007) states that the speed with which climate change is occurring, the world will be a very different place than it is and these changes are directly related to the human factor. And the starting point for change or slow down the negative aspects, such as environmental pollution and depletion of natural resources is the change of values in organizational culture (Andrade, 2000). Also according to Almeida (2002), during the UN Conference in Stockholm in 1972, sought to reconcile the increasing discussion of economic activity while preserving the environment. According to Elkington (2001, p.74), ten years later turned out that only the resolution of environmental issues - that plagued both society and the organizational environment - would not solve the problems of a sustainable global economy. It would be necessary to achieve other means to get the sustainability. �Those who think sustainability is only a matter of pollution control are not seeing the whole picture� (Hart, 2005, apud Elkington, p.74, 2001). Hart also said that �(...) it will be increasingly difficult for organizations doing business in view of the impoverishment of its customers, environmental degradation, the failure of political systems and the dissolution of society �(Hart, 2005 apud Elkington, p.75, 2001). For this study, we sought the use of secondary information sources. Secondary research took place over the references at the end of the work. As for the plan and instruments for data collection, the research is divided into two distinct phases: the first with exploratory used the theoretical framework to research on books, reports, journals and articles on the topic under study. Regarding data analysis, they were qualitatively analyzed from the perspective that to Gil (1999), at this analysis, the interpretation of the phenomena and the attribution of meaning are the basic process of qualitative research, and does not require the use of methods and statistical techniques. The natural environment is the direct source for the collection of data and the researcher is the key instrument.O objetivo deste estudo é identificar o nível de incorporação de uma gestão sustentável no Itaú- Unibanco, e seus principais desafios. O projeto de desenvolvimento sustentável tem sido frequentemente compreendido como sendo aquela condição na qual a organização está financeiramente equilibrada, sem grandes riscos e com perspectivas futuras. Tal projeto deve ser elencado como um importante diferencial nas organizações, como fonte de inovação e vantagem competitiva, sendo portanto um plano de ação para ser adotado global, nacional e localmente, por organizações que englobam o sistema das Nações Unidas, governos e pela sociedade civil, em todas as áreas em que a ação humana impacta o meio ambiente. Constitui-se na mais abrangente tentativa já imaginada de estabelecer um novo padrão de desenvolvimento para o século XXI, cujo alicerce é a sinergia da sustentabilidade ambiental, social e econômica. Em estudo recente, Kurzweil (2007) afirma que a velocidade com que estão ocorrendo as alterações climáticas, o mundo será um lugar muito diferente do que é e essas mudanças estão diretamente ligadas ao fator humano. E o ponto de partida para mudar ou desacelerar os aspectos negativos, como a poluição ambiental e o esgotamento dos recursos naturais é a mudança de valores na cultura organizacional (Andrade, 2000). Ainda segundo Almeida (2002), durante a Conferência da ONU em Estocolmo, em 1972, a crescente discussão buscava conciliar a atividade econômica com a preservação do meio ambiente. De acordo com Elkington (2001, p.74), dez anos depois se viu que somente a resolução de questões ambientais � que tanto afligiam a sociedade e o meio organizacional � não resolveria os problemas de uma economia global sustentável. Seria necessário atingir outros meios para se conseguir a sustentabilidade. �Aqueles que pensam ser a sustentabilidade somente uma questão de controle de poluição não estão vendo o quadro completo� (Hart, 2005, apud Elkington, p.74, 2001). Hart ainda afirma que �(...) será cada vez mais difícil para as organizações fazerem negócios, tendo em vista o empobrecimento dos clientes, a degradação do meio ambiente, a falência dos sistemas políticos e a dissolução da sociedade� (Hart, 2005 apud Elkington, p.75, 2001). Para a realização deste estudo, buscou-se a utilização de fontes secundárias de informações. A pesquisa secundária se deu sobre as referências mencionadas ao final do trabalho. Quanto ao plano e instrumentos de coleta de dados, a pesquisa divide-se em duas fases distintas: na primeira com caráter exploratório utilizou-se a fundamentação teórica com a pesquisa bibliográfica em livros, relatórios, revistas e artigos sobre o tema em estudo. Com relação à análise dos dados, os mesmos foram analisados sob a ótica qualitativa que, para Gil (1999), nesta análise, a interpretação dos fenômenos e a atribuição de significados são básicas no processo de pesquisa qualitativa, sendo que não requer o uso de métodos e técnicas estatísticas. O ambiente natural é a fonte direta para a coleta de dados e o pesquisador é o instrumento-chave
