This article explores the system of beliefs of a group of Spanish teachers working in secondary schools in England with regards to the explicit teaching of pronunciation. Through a semi-structured interview, as a method of data collection, and the use of a thematic framework as a tool of qualitative analysis, we examine teachers� beliefs in five specific thematic areas: the importance of the explicit teaching of pronunciation, the teacher�s role in the classroom, their beliefs on methods, techniques of phonetic correction and teaching materials, the treatment of errors and, finally, the importance of pronunciation in teacher training courses.
