The article reviews two sentences of great interest in the field of politicalelectoral rights. Specifically, the Costa Rican Constitutional Chamber vote No. 000456-2007 of January 17th, 2007 and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights sentence of August 6th., 2008. Both addressed the right to stand for elective office as a political right in relation to the monopoly in favor of political parties to nominate candidates to said elective office.
