Los alófonos del grupo consonántico /t../ en el castellano de Chile

This article presents a proposal for defining the allophones of the /t../ consonant cluster in Chilean Spanish. Four allophones were defined through auditory and spectrographic analyses: a stop followed by a tap [t.... ], an affricate with brief frication [t......], an affricate with long frication [t......], and a fricative [......] (the latter has not been previously reported in the literature). In addition, information is provided on idiolectal variation in the employment of these allophones and on the correlations between the phonetic variables and context, lexical stress and frequency. The statistical analysis of the results of two pilot perception experiments confirmed that speakers can distinguish the various members of the proposed inventory, although not categorically in the case of the [t......] versus [t......] distinction. Furthermore, the analysis shows that the variants receive different subjective assessments according to their acoustic nature: the greater the occlusive prominence of a variant, the higher the level of prestige assigned to it (the opposite occurs with fricative prominence).En este artículo se presenta una propuesta de alofonía para el grupo consonántico /t../ en el castellano de Chile. Mediante la realización de análisis auditivos y espectrográficos, se definieron cuatro variantes: oclusiva seguida de vibrante simple [t ....], africada asibilada con fricción breve [t..].... , africada asibilada con fricción larga [t..].... y fricativa [....].. (esta última no reportada anteriormente). Se estudió, además, la variación idiolectal en el uso de las variantes y la asociación entre la variable lingüística y las variables contexto, acento léxico y frecuencia. El análisis estadístico de los resultados de dos experimentos piloto de percepción confirma la pertinencia del inventario propuesto, aunque no de manera categórica para la distinción entre [t..].... y [t..].... . Este análisis demuestra, además, que las variantes reciben distinto tipo de valoraciones subjetivas dependiendo de su naturaleza: mientras mayor sea la prominencia oclusiva de la variante, las valoraciones se acercarán más a los niveles de prestigio (lo opuesto ocurre con la prominencia fricativa)
