Química y Nanociencia Molecular

In Nanoscience the molecular aspects are still an area of research that has been scarcely explored, maybe because the larger structural and electronic complexity of molecules, compared with that found in simpler atom-based nano-objects, make them more difficult to study at the nanoscale with the available instrumental techniques. Albeit, it is in this molecular region where molecular chemists, biologists, physicists and engineers working in Nanosciences may find the best opportunities to interact. Areas like supramolecular chemistry, molecular electronics and molecular magnetism are expected to converge in this region. Here I will use bio-magnetic nanomaterials and multifunctional magnetic materials as examples to illustrate some opportunities provided by this emergent area in chemistry, physics and materials science.Los aspectos moleculares de la Nanociencia apenas han sido investigados, quizás debido a que la complejidad estructural y electrónica de las moléculas, dificulta considerablemente su estudio al nivel de la nano-escala con las técnicas instrumentales disponibles, si se comparan con nano-objetos más simples como los formados por átomos. Sin embargo, es en la región molecular donde los químicos, biólogos, físicos e ingenieros moleculares que trabajan en nanociencias pueden encontrar mejores oportunidades de interacción. En particular, áreas como la química supramolecular, la electrónica molecular y el magnetismo molecular se espera que converjan en esta región. En este artículo emplearé nanomateriales bio-magnéticos y materiales magnéticos multifuncionales como ejemplos ilustrativos de las oportunidades que ofrece este área emergente en química, física y ciencia de materiales
