This article attempts to uncover the meaning that captures the most importation religious festival of the city of Ayacucho, Holy Week (Semana Santa) through an ethnographic description and a historical investigation. With a combination of both an anthropological and historical method, authors argue that Holy Week is a space that ritualizes the regional history, and at the same time, it reproduces the local social structure.
