The goal of this paper is to analyze the degree of development and preparation of the succession processes in family businesses in the province of Las Palmas on the basis of certain factors identified in the literature as key influences and determinants of the degree of success of the succession processes. These factors have to do with issues such as the successor's selection and training processes, successor's commitment with the family firm, relationships between predecessor and successor, and the family context in which the process is taking place.
