Dynamic study on the October, 1973 floods, in the Southeast of the Iberian Peninsula. Based on a synoptic analysis of high level wather and surface maps. On October 17th a cold front, dragged along by a maritime polar flow coming from the Northwest, swept the Iberian Peninsula with a NW-SE trajectory. On reaching the Mediterranean (the Alboran Sea, with high surface temperature) the front undulated, giving rise to a cyclogenesis which was not very deep, but very active. Thus, on the 18th and 19th October a Levant system was developed with storms and heavy showers with enormous quantities of water.
