The characteristics of the Claromeco basin, located in the southeast of the province Buenos Aires, Argentina, are described. There are no previous studies of the river, although it has a great significance in the agricultural activities of the region. The study zone is characterized by farming, agricultural and cattle raising activities. The river which flows across a plain, results from the confluence of three courses - the Seco creek or 3rd branch in the west, the Medio or 2nd branch in the centre, and the Orellano creek or 1st branch in the east.
