Frequency dependent mechanical properties of elastic metamaterials with locally resonant microstructures were investigated. Due to the dynamic behavior of the microstructures, the mechanical properties of these elastic metamaterials, if represented by effective continuous media, would exhibit frequency dependent characteristics.
