The author offers a reflection on the question of Christian identity in a changing Europe. He points out that it was only as the number of practicing Christians in public life diminished that the question of the Christian identity of the continent arose. He questions the kinds of uncritical identification of European and Christian culture that arises in the fact of increased Islamic immigration. He surveys the principal options facing Christians and Christian culture as Europe faces an uncertain future
