The primary purpose of this study was to examine the effects of 10 weeks of barbell deadlift training on rapid torque characteristics of the knee extensors and flexors. A secondary aim was to analyze the relationships between training-induced changes in rapid torque and vertical jump performance. Fiftyfour subjects (age, mean 6 SD = 23 6 3 years) were randomly assigned to a control (n = 20) or training group (n = 34).
