Artists, Archives, and Academics: Civic Studio at GVSU

Civic Studio, an applied experimental art studio project at GVSU takes art students into a Grand Rapids neighborhood to engage with the city’s history, encourage a sense of community, understand civic responsibility, and create a context for art that reflects a sense of place within society.Each student researches a square block of the city.
