Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a specific type of cardiomyopathy defined by new-onset heart failure with reduced systolic function during the peripartum period. Preeclampsia, a multisystem disorder affecting pregnant and postpartum women, is strongly associated with PPCM.
