4 FigurasIt has been widely reckoned the potential of developing novel CO2 capture technologies aiming at low-energy penalties and reduced cost as a solution for fighting against climate change. The Ca-Cu chemical looping process emerged as a promising technology for producing hydrogen and/or power with inherently low CO2 emissions. The core of this concept is the calcination of the CaCO3 by coupling in the same solid bed the exothermic reduction of a CuO-based material, improving the efficiency of the CO2 sorbent regeneration step.
