Over the past thirty years the number of women in the workforce has increased considerably. Despite the development of multiple welfare benefits, the first years after becoming a parent is often described as demanding. Multiple studies have explored the experience of first-time mothers as they return to work or the consequences of combining work and motherhood on the individual’s health. This study contributes to the field by exploring what first-time mothers do in their efforts to handle the combination of work and motherhood. The study explores how women engage in job crafting after returning to work after maternity leave.
