Building energy modelling is an inter-disciplinary area of research which involves, among others, concepts of electrical and software engineering, mechanical engineering and also, architecture. Building energy models are used at the design stage for the purpose of energy code compliance certification. The accuracy of results depends on how well the building model has been developed and calibrated. Most of the programs available in the market take into account occupancy pattern behavior, thermal parameters of construction elements, hvac and lighting systems.
