Complex systems design involves many different stakeholders over time, with different stages of design and engineering running in parallel, as a system evolves, and requirements change. Current project management theory and practice do not suffice, if only for the fact that projects by definition have a known end. This chapter introduces an integrated approach to management of design and engineering of complex socio-technical systems that incorporates both systems design and engineering (i.e., technical management) and governance (i.e., organisational management) throughout a system’s lifecycle
