Analysis of conceptual design of reinforced concrete (RC) structure with secondary seismic elements in compliance with Eurocode 8 is presented in this paper. The application of this concept is complex due to the requirements regarding the classification and calculation of design internal forces, although the contribution of these elements in the total structural stiffness is neglected. The basic calculations of 8-story RC structure are performed with the main goal to emphasize and explain the problems of utilization of this concept.
