The Power of Speech: An investigation into how Donald Trump and Jeremy Corbyn used language to successfully convince the masses that they would be worthy political leaders.

This project attempts to investigate how Western political figures of the modern day can orchestrate whether they are deemed worthy leaders. The two leaders that will be analyzed are from two different countries and represent two opposing ideologies, Donald Trump and Jeremy Corbyn. This will give true analysis of whether two very different leaders can still draw upon similar tactics to in order to become successful. Firstly, this project discusses leadership values and what are considered to be desirable traits of a political leader, furthermore, why Trump and Corbyn are deemed to be successful leaders. Then the investigation will surround the methods into how Trump and Corbyn presented themselves as successful through a qualitative method of discourse analysis. The subliminal meanings behind their words from their speeches and social media presence on twitter will be analyzed to determine how they generate support from the public. Subsequently, the affect this has on their followers and their voting behavior will be discussed. Ultimately, the project will conclude by discussing in what way Trump and Corbyn used language to convey their strengths as leaders
