International audienceFinding out a precise coherence in second language acquisition research is not easy when facing so many contradictory theoretical fields. Psychological theories based on conditioning and form were referred to before cognitive psychology appeared. But cognitivism did not completely eliminate previous theories. They all influenced learning theories, behaviorism, nativism, environmentalism, interactionism and the heuristic approach. Linguistic theories also changed. Structuralism, linguistics and speech, cognitivism, enunciation still all play an important role in second language acquisition.
