International audienceWaste to Energy Bottom Ash (WtE BA) in France is reused as a substitute for natural aggregates in building material for road construction. Before BA reuse, treatment operations are generally necessary such as the removal of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, ageing, and particle size separation. BA valorization depends on the leaching behavior of the main Mineral Trace Elements (MTE), which in turn depends on pH. It is well known that ageing influences the natural pH of BA, as the initial pH of fresh BA (around 12–13) can decrease to a pH of 8 in weathered BA.
