International audienceIn this paper, we present a study on a growing technological sector –additive manufacturing. Additive manufacturing, also known as three-dimensional (3D) printing, is a novel manufacturing process that builds layers to create a three-dimensional sol-id object from a digital model. 3D printing technology stands to completely transform our economic and business models or eradicate some of the craft ships and skills of traditional manufacturing. The topic has been surrounded with lot of hype when predicting future application scope, so in this paper we open discussion on disruptive power of the 3D printing technology aswell as opportunities for socially depraved population of Bottom-of-the-Pyramid (BoP)
