International audienceAn original in situ measurement of acoustic emission (AE) was applied to monitor damage progress in discrete steps during gradual load/unload tensile tests on [±45°]7 C/PPS laminates at temperatures T > Tg, when matrix ductility is enhanced. In order to understand the specific damage behavior of such materials under severe environmental conditions, AE analysis was accompanied by microscopic observations to detect the damage initiation threshold as well as the damage mechanisms within the composite material.
