Kant’s lessons on psychology and the Metaphysics of Morals are inquiring into the grounds of human actions. These are determined by natural, social, psychological causes, but they can at least partly be attributed to human free will. The free will can also be determined by the practical reason, by the pure will whose ground to acting is the reason herself. The will can be autonomous without infringing natural laws, because the law of reason, as human faculty, can regulate human actions.
