Pt(IV) complexes are usually prepared by oxidation of the corresponding Pt(II) counterparts, typically using hydrogen peroxide or chlorine. A different way to synthesize asymmetrical Pt(IV) compounds is the oxidative chlorination of Pt(II) counterparts with N-chlorosuccinimide.
