Le nombre d'associations entre les bras des chromosomes chez les cellules-mères du pollen de l'hybride Triticum boeoticum × T. urartu est très voisin de celui qui survient chez les cellules-mères du pollen des lignées parentales. Ces deux lignées ont été croisées avec les espèces diploïdes suivantes : T. tauschii, T. comosum, T. umbellulatum et Haynaldia villosa. L'analyse du comportement méiotique des hybrides a révélé que les chromosomes de T. urartu comparativement à ceux de T. boeoticum, présentent davantage d'homéologie avec les espèces diploïdes de Triticum.
