Rationalismes régionaux dans la philosophie médiévale tardive. Le cas de Blaise de Parme

International audienceSeveral of Blasius of Parma’s texts contain remarks on the relationship between disciplines, and in particular between mathematics and physics. This contribution shows how, not only in the course of analysing problems that lie at the crossroad of two disciplines (such as the relationship between a spherical body and a plane), but also when discussing the notion of atom or the role of images in vision, Blasius of Parma contrasts the point of view of the mathematician with that of the natural philosopher. This opposition does not exclude a renewed relationship between the two approaches, but transforms and radicalizes an opposition that appeared at the end of the thrrteenth century concerning philosophy and theology, thus consolidating the autonomy of the disciplines within the framework of the medieval encyclopediaPlusieurs textes de Blaise de Parme contiennent des remarques sur la relation entre disciplines, et en particulier entre mathématiques et physique.
