This exploratory qualitative study examines the independent living skills that are possessed upon emancipation from foster care and identifies those areas that need further development, which may arise in successful transition into adulthood. This study also attempts to identify if the independent livings skills possessed were learned through foster parents modeling appropriate behavior. The study sample includes 10 former foster children who are now adults and living independently, who were interviewed face to face. The guide consisted of open and closed questions, which allow for optimal feedback from the respondents.
