The compounds RPt4B, with (R = La, Ce, Pr, Nd), were synthesized and their crystal structure was studied either by single crystal X-ray diffraction and/or by conventional and synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction. All four compounds of this family are isostructural and belong to the CeCo4B structure type. AC-susceptibility and magnetization studies show that: there is no magnetic ordering of the La compound down to 1.7 K; the Ce compound presents an antiferromagnetic-type-transition at 2.4 K; and both Pr and Nd compounds present a ferromagnetic-type transition at 4.2 and 4.9 K, respectively.
