This chapter presents SMAC, a structured approach for the modeling, simulation and validation of smart electronic systems, focusing mainly on the functional aspects. The SMAC platform is the result of a European Project (FP7 – SMAC: SMArt systems Co‐design) – Integrated Project (IP) of the 7th ICT Call under the Objective 3.2 “Smart components and Smart Systems integration”. A clear framework to categorize methodologies and tools, which are adopted in Smart Systems design, should distinguish between the different levels of design abstraction which includes system level, device level, and physical level.
