Ad-hoc networks are self-organizing networks that can be spontaneously deployed from a set of mobile devices without requiring any pre-existing fixed infrastructure. Managing such dynamic networks is significantly harder and more complex than managing traditional fixed networks. Indeed, the network topology is dynamic with a high rate of change. Moreover, the network is self-maintained by devices that usually operate under many constraints such as limited battery power, restricted bandwidth and low system capacity. All these factors make traditional management schemes inefficient and expensive.
