Purpose/Introduction: Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) us- ing Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL) is emerging as a useful technique for spatial mapping of brain activity. It allows to localize and also estimate cerebral blood flow (CBF) changes induced by different tasks[1]. The purpose of this study was to assess the applicability of ASL to detect brain activations during active and passive movements compared to the gold standard, i.e. fMRI based on the blood-oxygenation-level-dependent (BOLD) contrast[2].
