Recent papers demonstrated the importance of upper body in cross country skiing, and revealed the relation between force application strategies and performance level. Since stretch-shortening cycle (SSC) mechanisms occur in many cross country skiing techniques the aim of this study was to evaluate the relation between performance capacity, force application timing and SSC effectiveness in upper body muscles principally involved in double poling
