Results confirm a great genetical difference in K+ uptake of grapevine genotypes. Riparia and Rupestris genotypes induce high and low absorption capability in their offspring, respectively. In agreement with other authors and with what was carried out on erbaceous plants, the use of excised roots for evaluating K+ absorption capability is achievable. The early evaluation method of nutritional needs in grapevine rootstocks is very useful in genetic improvement, which normally takes long time to reach some significant results
