The possibility of progression of premature thelarche into precocious puberty, the pathogenesis of organic and idiopathic precocious puberty, the criteria for decision to treat and to stop treatment and the utility of an association with GH treatment will be better understood in the future. Follow-up of patients after stopping therapy includes frequency and characteristics of menses, the possible higher incidence of polycystic ovary-like syndrome and the correct achievement of a normal peak bone mass and body composition.
