In the last years several solutions of the linear quadratic optimal control problem for networked control systems appeared in literature. This paper extends one of these approaches by introducing the presence of transmission options offering different probabilities of packet drop. The motivation for combining network Quality-of-Service and control design is based on the observation that not all data traveling on the network have the same importance. This means that some data must be accurately protected (by using a high-priority service) whereas other data can be lost without major effects.
