The WTO has achieved remarkable success in resolving international trade disputes. Over the past ten years, it has successfully handled approximately 400 cases. Professor Matsushita discusses decision-making by the Appellate Body, which is the appeals tribunal of the WTO and its key judicial institution. He explains the dynamics of decision-making and the factors that influence decisions, using examples from specific cases such as those involving environmental regulations and food safety.
