In this thesis, the author argues that the value of life transcends mere biological existence. She uses several situations of suicide and one example of euthanasia to argue that the morality and ethics surrounding these decisions is contextual to the specific situation. Through her own personal stories and through the case of Terri Schiavo, she attempts to determine when it is acceptable to take one\u27s own life and when it is right to let a person die. The author also uses different philosophical arguments to present this case including the ideas of Immanuel Kant, Utilitarianism, Libertarianism, and Catholicism. She concludes with her argument for a contextual approach to the ethics surrounding death
