Abstract Introduction: Suicide regularly ranks among the top ten leading causes of death in the United States. In ages 10 to 24, suicide is the second leading cause of death. The purpose of this study was to develop a coding scheme to determine reoccurring contributing factors in child suicides from 2005-2016 in Kentucky. Research is limited in the United States on suicides in children and more specifically precipitating circumstances leading to a child dying by suicide.
